Overview
Cross fire journey
Crossfire is Chrysler's smallest-ever model and first-ever sports car that started the concept of rear-wheel drives (RWD). The Crossfire was built in Germany combining an eye-catching American design with state-of-the-art German engineering. Almost 40 percent of the new car’s components are adopted from the existing DaimlerChrysler technology from which the Crossfire borrowed its platform.

It is available in two trims, Roadster and Coupe. Each of these trims has two options, Base and Limited. The MSRP warranty on all trims is for 36 months/36,000 miles in case of powertrain or roadside assistance and 60 months/100,000 miles in case of corrosion or perforation.

The Roadster model is the new addition for the 2007 model year, which is a top-down model and adds choice to the two-door variety.

This fireball of a car is set to challenge the Audi S4 Cabriolet, the BMW Z4 Roadster, the Honda S2000, and the Porsche Boxster.

Engine and Performance
Surge of power
The Crossfire gives you an option to choose between the Crossfire Coupe and the Crossfire Roadster both with 3.2-liter V6 engines generating 215 hp. Both these trims are available in Base or Limited options. The transmissions available on all trims are a 5-speed automatic with overdrive or a 6-speed manual with overdrive.

The Crossfire trims give you great mileage and fuel economy at 17 mpg in city and 25 mpg on highways. Therefore, it is economically beneficial while giving you the comfort of a luxury passenger vehicle.

Walk-around
Style and poise
The Crossfire has a stallion look with an extremely prominent spine that starts on the hood and runs the length of the car. The Chrysler wing badge is placed in the center of prominent grille. The long hood and broad shoulders give it a streamlined appearance. It has very prominently etched lines that run on both sides of its body from front to back. A gill-like design adorns the side beside the front wheel adding to its sporty look. The rear of the car is also strongly etched giving the car a strong and bold look.

The major difference in appearance between the Crossfire Coupe and Roadster is that the Roadster has a convertible top that can be let down when you want to enjoy a little wind and sunshine. Both trims have a retractable spoiler that is automatically deployed when the vehicle reaches 60 mph ensuring a steady road-grip even at high acceleration.

Optional packages include a range of colors you can choose from for the Limited option of Crossfire. P225/40ZR18 and P255/35ZR19 are optional ASP tires available for all trims. Also, all trims come with the 2006 Crossfire Appearance package, where you can choose to give your 2007 engine the 2006 look.

Comfort, Controls & Convenience
Lap of comfort
The driver seat has 6-way electronic direction controls on the Base models while the Limited models have 8-way controls. 4-way power seat controls on the Limited edition and 4-way manual seat controls on the Base edition accentuate the feeling of comfort for the front passenger.

All trims have standard leather covered steering but only the Limited version has complete leather interiors. Vanity mirrors for driver and passenger, dual zone air conditioning, in-dash clock, one-touch window down, glovebox, center front arm rests, rear window defroster, keyless entry, instrument cluster with tachometer, dual note electric horns, power accessory delay, AM/FM stereo, and an in-dash mounted single CD are some standard features over all trims.

These packages give you a choice to select a 5-speed automatic transmission or an AM/FM radio with a CD player and GPS navigation in the Limited version.

Driving Impressions
Smooth as silk
The 3.2L engine churning out 215 hp may not seem powerful enough, but it gives a decent acceleration and unmatched fuel economy. The Crossfire rides on a double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension making the ride quality steady and smooth.

The 6-speed manual transmission is easy to handle. The 5-speed AutoStick allows for automatic gear shift. Either transmission helps to improve ride quality and comfort along with fuel efficiency.

The 15.9 gallon fuel tank takes you for long drives without any worries. The Crossfire as a whole is geared for thrilling drives around the city or country with great control and maneuverability.

Safety
Safety package
The Crossfire comes with a standard Antilock Braking System (ABS) and an Electronic Stability Program that will ensure that you stay in control of your car even on extremely unfavorable weather conditions. It is also equipped with an engine immobilizer that prevents anyone from starting your car with a duplicated or forged key. A tire pressure monitoring system keeps you informed about the pressure in your tires.

Driver and passenger front airbags, a LATCH-Ready child seat anchor system, side front door airbags, and roll-over protection are some other standard safety features across all trims.
